This statuette is a replica of the archaeological find from Skåne, Sweden. It is dated to the Viking age and believed to be a depiction of Odin. If you look closely, you will see the missing right eye that Odin sacrificed to obtain wisdom. This is one of ONLY 2 still existing figurines of Odin. The original is currently being kept at the Swedish History Museum in Stockholm but now you can keep an exact replica in your home!

Statues/Idols in the Viking age were a very important part of the spiritual beliefs. Although archaeologists have not found more than a handful of them, we find countless examples of these in the old written sources being used for decoration, worship, rituals and other spiritual purposes. The belief was not simply that the statue was an image of the god or hero. Instead, as almost all other primitive cultures, the belief was that if done correctly, some of the energy of the gods may be attracted to or even reside in these statues or idols.
