This amulet is a replica of the archaeological find from the Gokstad Ship in Sandefjord, Norway. The Gokstad Ship dated to the 800s is one of the largest burial mounds in Scandinavia and believed to be the resting place of the legendary Olav Geirstadalf. It is a warrior on a horse with a spear that could be Odin or another of the Norse War Gods. It was unearthed in the 1800s and only a sketch of the figurine remains but now you can own one just like it! This statuette is much smaller than the others at less than 2 inches(4cm) so it is better suited as a pendant or keeping in your pocket for good luck!
Statues/Idols in the Viking age were a very important part of the spiritual beliefs. Although archaeologists have not found more than a handful of them, we find countless examples of these in the old written sources being used for decoration, worship, rituals and other spiritual purposes.
